No. It fires at the time you picked, and you mark it complete yourself. Mention Reminder watches the conversation instead: a reply in the thread, an emoji reaction, or on the Team plan an answer the AI matches in the channel closes the reminder for you.
Teams "Remind me" vs Mention Reminder
Microsoft has announced a Remind me option for Teams messages. It will help you return to a message you already noticed. Mention Reminder adds mentions automatically, including ones you did not get round to reading or saving.
Use Remind me for selected messages once it is available in your organisation. Add Mention Reminder for an automatic mention list that clears items after your replies or reactions.

What Teams Remind me does
Remind me is a native Microsoft Teams feature announced in message center post MC1470887. It adds an option to the actions menu of chat and channel messages, where you pick when Teams should bring the message back: later today, tomorrow morning, or a time of your own.
According to the announcement, Teams will notify you at the chosen time. A Reminders view will list upcoming, current and completed reminders, with a clock icon on the message. Reminders will be private.
The updated MC1470887 announcement schedules targeted release for November 2026 and broader availability for November to December. This is a rollout plan, not confirmation that every account has the feature. It is intended to be included in Teams at no extra cost.

When Teams Remind me is enough
- You read every mention as it arrives and only need a nudge to come back to a few of them.
- You want reminders about any message, including ones that never mention you.
- The feature is available in your organisation and adding external Teams apps is restricted.
When to add Mention Reminder
- Mentions arrive during meetings or focus time and are gone from view before you decide to save them.
- You want one list of what is still unanswered, not a list of what you remembered to save.
- You want the reminder to disappear on its own when you reply or react.
- Your team also works in Slack or Discord and you want a single place for every mention.
Using both
They do not overlap much. Keep Remind me for your own follow-ups on any message, and let Mention Reminder catch the @mentions that are waiting on you. When you reply to a mention, our reminder clears itself; a Remind me you set on the same message stays until you complete it.
No. Remind me is private to the person who sets it. With Mention Reminder, mentioning a covered colleague is enough: they get the reminder in their own 1:1 chat with the bot, at their own hours.
The September 29, 2026 update to MC1470887 schedules targeted release from early November, followed by broader rollout from mid-November through December. Microsoft may change this schedule.
No. It is a Teams app installed once by an admin. Starter is free for up to 5 people and Team is billed per person who receives reminders.
